It's been forever I know

I was told by my dad the other day that it has been forever since I have updated my blog.  He is right.  A lot has happened since the last time I wrote on here.  I will update you on the big things that have happened in the last year and a half.  Where to begin....

First, on July 7, 2011 I became an aunt for the first time.  Matt and Natalie had a beautiful baby boy Maxwell Oscar Spring.  He was 9 pounds 10oz.  I am just so in love with this little boy.  He makes me smile every time I see him.  Matt and Natalie moved to St. George in October so I don't get to see him as much but when I do it fills my heart up with more and more love for him.

Now Max is getting so big.  Wow how the time flies.  This is Max at about 6 months.

The next big event that happened in our family was that Kim and Kyle told us in December that they were expecting a little one.  I was so happy that I was going to become an aunt again to another bundle of joy.

Now about me and what has been going on.  In January I foreclosed on my condo and moved in with Kim and Kyle. This has been the best blessing for me.  I have been able to save money for the months to come where I will be unemployed.  Also, it has been a blast hanging out with Kim and Kyle.  I hope they feel the same way.  I am so glad that I am living here so that I will be able to be a part of "Baby Millett's" everyday life.  She is going to be one spoiled little girl!! Also, I hope that I can be of some help to Kim and Kyle while they gt use to have a little bundle of joy around the house.

Her is what is going on with my schooling.  Well, this year I finished up my PRE- student teaching in a kindergarten class.  This was nice because I was able to do this in my classroom while I worked.  I will not be that lucky with student teaching.  I had to put in for a leave of absence starting on August 27th.  This is the first day of my student teaching.  Scary and exciting all in one.  I can't believe that it has taken me this long to finish up my degree but it will be so nice to be done.

Last week I started summer break.  This was exciting and scary also.  It was exciting because I was working with a hard group of kids for the last half of the school year.  When I started out this school year I was in the special education Pre- kinder class at Clyde Cox.  In January I had to go my pre student teaching and it had to be in Kindergarten so they moved me into the special education kindergarten.  I stayed in there for the rest of the year. The students in this kindergarten class were very difficult.  I would like to think that I have quite a bit of patience but not with these kids.  We had hitting, destroying the classroom, throwing tables and desks, and using inappropriate words towards other students and teachers.  So yes it was hard to get up and go to work for awhile but I had a great team that I worked.  We were all counting down the days until summer so that we could get a break.

Summer also started the 7 month stretch of not being employed. This scares me to death.  If you know me well I have always had a job.  I started working at the age of 16 and the only other time I took a break from working was when I went to college at Dixie State in Utah.  At one point I was working 3 jobs, so having all of this downtime in the summer makes me a little uneasy.  BUT.....  Thanks to my dad and UMC I might be able to get a job working in their gift shop for a few hours a day!!!  YAY!! Thanks dad for everything that you do for me!! YOU ROCK!!!!

This first week of summer has been great because my parents are housesitting for a friend of theirs.  Well, they have a pool!!! So we have been able to take advantage of having some pool time this summer.  I have really enjoyed working on my tan.  Well, the first day I wasn't so smart and I didn't put on sunscreen.  BAD IDEA!!!  I got super burnt, but I got smart and have put on sunscreen everyday since.  Spending days at the pool really makes you wish that you had one to hang out in all the time.  I love being in the sun and splashing around in the water and spending time with family.

Summer has just begun and it is going to be a very eventful summer.  We have Max's first birthday, the birth of Kim and Kyle's little girl and then back to school in August. I will do my best to keep my blog updated with all of the happy events.
 

My Birthday

I just want to thank everyone for the wonderful birthday wishes and gift. I have the best family and friends in the world. For my birthday I received a gift card to Outback (my favorite place to eat), a gift card to the movies, Just Dance 2, a gift card to Target, and a vacuum. You know you are getting old when you get excited about a vacuum for your birthday.

Tonight I went to my parents for my birthday dinner. My dad grilled steaks and we had loaded baked potatoes. This is my favorite meal, so thanks mom and dad. You guys are the best. I had a very wonderful birthday. Thanks everyone!!!!!

Carving Pumpkins With the Family

So on Saturday I had just gotten done with school and I got a text message from Kim that she wanted to carve pumpkins. I went and picked up Kim and Kyle and we went to my parents house to carve the pumpkins. First we stopped by Smiths to get the pumpkins. We got 5, one for each of us.

Cheese!!!!! This is dad's pumpkin. Dad chose the easiest pattern to cut out. But you'll see he ends up helping all of us.

After we got done carving pumpkins, dad wanted to go to RC Willi to get a bed and 2 night stands. When we left he bought a bed, 2 night stands, and a new TV!!!! Gotta love the deal of not having to pay for tax. Saturday was a great day.

I suck at this blog stuff I know

Ok I know, I know I suck when it comes to blogging but my life is pretty boring. Right now I am on track break until next school year. Instead of doing the emotionally challenged kids we will be teaching early childhood pre school. This will be so much better than getting beat up everyday when I go to work. Now I get to change diapers. Hey I will choose that over bodily harm any day.

I am also taking classes at UNLV in a fast track program. I am hoping to be doing my student teaching next fall. I would be doing it during the summer but all CCSD schools went 9 month. I was happy when we were told that our school was going but I wasn't happy that all the school would be going. It would have worked out great for me to student teach during the summer. Oh well what can I do.

While I have been on track break I have been pretty busy, but its a good busy. I have been laying by the pool, going to the gym and finally doing what I want to do. I am back on my diet for my track break. I am hoping to lose another 20 pounds before I go back to school. That would be great. Today I am going to the Cheesecake Factory for $1.50 cheesecake. I know it's not on the diet but you can't beat $1.50 cheesecake. Can't pass that up. I am also planning on doing some crafts while I am on break. I will post them once I get them done and pictures taken. Sorry this post is boring I don't have any picture to share. Maybe next post. I promise I will try and be better at keeping this updated.

Diet Continued

Ok so I have been on this diet for 21 days. I have lost 17.4 pounds. When I first started this diet I thought I was going to die. The first 3 days are the worst, but now it is getting easier. I am going to try and do the 45 days. I want to lose as much as possible. I will keep you updated on how much I lose at the end of the 45 days.

New Diet

Ok so I'm doing this new diet. You start off this 2 binge days. You are eating all day 3000 to 4000 calories worth. Then for the next 25 to 45 which ever one you choose all you eat is 500 calories. Then for 3 weeks after you eat 1500 calories of the same foods. So for the next 25 to 45 days I will be eating chicken, beef (2) times a week, and I'm going to try shrimp. I will also be eating lettus, apples, oranges, strawberries, and cucumbers. I know it sounds so exciting. If I follow this diet it is said that you lose around 30 pounds in 45 days. Hey if I can lose that much I'll be so excited. As well as eating like this you have to take these drops so that it resets your set points. Meaning when you start eating again you won't gain it all back. I hope I can make it. It's going to be a long 25 to 45 days. Wish me luck!!!!!!

I have been pretty busy during track break or I just have to much time on my hands. Either way I am having fun being crafty.

I know it has been forever.

I know I know, it has been forever. Well, I have a very good reason. On January 15th I started school. I am finishing my teaching degree. I go to school on Fridays and Saturdays for four weeks for each class. I have completed 2 classes so far and am starting number 3 on Friday. With these classes being 4 week they are very busy. Once I complete this next class I will be done until July. I can't wait.

I am still working at Clyde Cox as a SEC aide. I get attacked on a regular basis from 6 year olds. Gotta love the job. I just need to finish this week and then I am on track break for 2 weeks and then Spring Break. I can't wait. 4 days to go.

While I have been working 2 jobs, and going to school, I have also been doing some crafts.

I found this really cute material and decided to make a quilt for Eva. I am still working on it but this is what the layout it.

I have also been working on a quit for Cris. I found this great Toy Story fleece. So I cut the edges and then tied it. He loved it. Cristi says that he took the Toy Story blanket instead of the Incredibles one. Score!!!! Maybe one day he will like me.

While I have been on track break I have been busy. To start it off I threw a bridal shower for Kim. That was a whole lot of fun and I was so happy it turned out.

Track Break

Ok I have been in this new job for 3 and a half months. What can I say about my new job.... well it is interesting. I am in a class with 4 students. We started off with just one and grew to 5 but then one left. I go to work everyday to something new. Whether it is chasing after students, defending myself from students, or protecting the other students from other students. This just is very stressful but right now I am on track break for 4 more weeks. So life is good.

While I have been on track break I have discovered my crafty side. Thanks Kim for finding the blog Tater Tots and Jello. This is where I have gotten tons of ideas. I got one idea from here and that was a Marshmallow wreath.

New Job

For those of you that don't know my job with the school district was eliminated.  Because of this I was placed in a new position at a new school.  As of tomorrow I will be working at Clyde Cox Elementary school.  All I know is that I will be an SPTA ( special ed teachers assistant.)  I don't know what kind of a class it is nor do I know who the teacher is. This is going to be a hard move for me just because I was at Tartan for almost 4 years.  I got to know many people there.  I will miss all of my friends there, but I am hoping to make more friends over at Cox.  I was told that sometimes change isn't a bad thing, sometimes it's for the good.  I hope this move is for the good.  I'll keep you all informed about how it goes.  Tomorrow is the big day!!!! 

Arizona Trip

My parents got a Marriott time share in Arizona.   With the program they can change the place of their time share, so they wanted to come and see what it was like down here in AZ.  So we have been here for a week.  My parents can on Saturday, but Kim and I came down on Sunday.  We have been shopping and laying out by the pool.  A great vacation in my eyes.  Tuesday night be went to a Diamond Backs game.  That was fun.  Kim fell in love with one of the players that is from Australia.  I have to agree with her that he is a cutie.  Today, we went to the gym, pool, and then to a movie with dad.  That was fun.  It was a daddy daughter day.  My mom was going to lunch with an old friend of hers that happens to live here in Scotsdale.  Tomorrow will be a day at the pool.  Dad is going golfing in the morning, so mom, Kim and I will go to the pool.  Then mom and dad are going to the temple, so Kim and I will stay at the pool.  I better come home with a great tan.  At the hotel next door there is a lazy river with rafts.  Great way to get some sun in Arizona because it is HOT!!!!!!!  Then Friday it is back to Vegas.  How sad. =(    

SPRING BREAK TRIP TO NEWPORT!!!!!!

Ok so I was horrible at keeping you updated on our trip. Here is the full scoop. So Audra, Kim, Lindsay, and I left Saturday night around 6:30pm. The car was packed to the rim with beach chairs, umbrellas, and 4 suitcases filled with clothes. You know girls they pack ALOT!!!! We are on our way and I was DJ Tiff on this trip. I kept us rocking out to music on this trip. We stopped in Barstow to get gas and IN-AND-OUT!!!! You gotta have IN-AND-OUT on a road trip to Cali.

The rest of the trip was great. I have such great map reading skills. HA ha ya and if you believe that you are crazy.

Well, we got to Newport around 10pm. We stayed at the Marriott Condo resort. They were great. It was a two bedroom 2 bath condo. My parents had one room and then us 4 girls shared the second room. Yes we were packed in there pretty tight. Plus just think of ALL 4 girls sharing a bathroom. Kim and Linz were sharing a fold out bed. That was funny because Audra and I were sharing the comfy bed. So everyday it was another complaint from those girls. So I would turn to Audra and say, "I don't know about you but I slept great last night." We teased those girls all week about their bed.

Sunday: We got up and watched the first half of conferece. Then we went and layed out by the pool. Gotta work on that tan. We all teased Audra for wearing 50 sunscreen to TAN!!!! The pool was great. We shared it with only 3 other condos. It wasn't that full at all. It was like we had our own personal pool. After we sat out by the pool we decided to go to Balboa Island. We had to take a small farry for about 2 minutes to get to the island. While we waited to get on the farry Kim and Linz went and got chocolate covered strawberries. The were huge and delicious. Dad couldn't eat it without making a mess though. He got strawberry juice all over him. By the time we got done eating our strawberries we were on the Island. When we got on the Island mom and dad rented us a 4 person bike. The lady at the store told us that we were like a car. So we didn't know any different. We got on and of course the 2 young girls who wanted to do the bike sat in the bike. I had to drive. I don't know what I am doing. I'm just driving anywhere. Well, we end up on a main street. We are all stressing out and to top it off the lifeguard officer told us over his speaker "Ladies get that off the road." How emberrassing. Well, that wasn't the end of our embarrassment. We found the bike path by the ocean and just followed that. Well, we passed a house full of guys and what was their comments, "Those are the girls that were on the main road." It was horrible and we passed them 3 times. After about an hour of bike riding we gave up the bike to mom and dad. While they were riding the bike we went to the beach to put our toes in the sand. We hung out for awhile and took some pictures. Then we went back to the condo for dinner. It was mom and dad's night.

Monday: On this day we went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park. It was a blast to see all of the wonderful animals. It was hot though. That place doesn't have much shade. It was still fun. Then the 4 of us girls went to go explore. We wanted to go to the beach and walk at night. Well, we couldn't find any place open in Newport, so we went back to Balboa. We walked on the beach and got good and wet. Thanks Linz for pushing me into the water. =) On our way back to Newport we got lost. I told you I'm not a good navigator. We stopped at a gas station and asked for directions. See women will ask. We were right down the street from where we needed to be. Sad I know.

Tuesday: Today we went to Huntington Beach to get our nails done. Audra had done some research and was told about a salon in Huntington that did really cool designs on your nails. So we headed out to Huntington. The salon was a small shop with 4 pedicure chairs. We called ahead so we only had to wait a few minutes. We all got Zebra designs on our toes. Audra, Kim and Linz got zebra on their finger nails too. I got acrilecs on and on the tips I got pocka dots. I now need a fill but I don't want to go get one because I don't want to ruin my cute nails from Cali. After we got back from getting our nails done we ate dinner.

Wednesday: We headed to LA. Once again I was the navigator. I am surprised we didn't get lost. First stop was the Chinese Mann's Theatre. We bought VIP tickets to Fast and the Furious. We also bought tickets to go on the Tour of the Stars. That was fun. We got to see all of the famous places in Hollywood as well have celebrities houses. Our tour guide was funny and kept us laughing. After the tour it was time for our movie. We got to sit in large leather seats in a row all by ourselves. We also didn't have to go and get our own snacks. We had someone bring them to us. I felt important.

Thursday: DISNEYLAND!!!! Today was the day that we were waiting for the whole trip. DISNEYLAND!!!!!! The happiest place on earth and that is true. We got up early and was at the park by 9. We went from ride to ride, but that place was packed. So we didn't get to go on everything. Plus we pooped out early. It was 8 and we were home. Mom and dad even stayed out later than us. Sad I know.

Friday: The party was over. It was time to come home. I was sad to leave the gorgious beach side resort. We had to be packed up and out of the condo by 10am. So we got up packed the car up with all our junk and headed home. I once again became DJ Tiff. The ride home was quick and we got back around 3pm. Back to reality. SAD!!!!

Newport vacation

So the vacation has started. It is great. We are here in Newport laying out by the pool. It is so beautiful. This is day one and so i'll keep you updated.

I need a vacation!!!!

Ok so the last month and a half has been very stressful. At the end of January my grandma Keate passed away. We had the funeral and I was starting to become normal again, when my grandma Spring passed away 2 weeks ago. Having both grandmas pass within 5 weeks of each other has been hard. I miss them both terribly. Needless to say I need a vacation. It's a good thing that for Spring Break my family is going to Newport beach. Audra is coming with us and I think Kim is bring Linz. So we are going to have a blast. I need this time to just veg out and do something fun.

Here are some photos of my guest room or what I should call it my gym room.  This room took forever to paint.  If you read in my post before you know that this stripe was a pain in my butt.  I didn't let it defeat me.  I got the stripe done.  It took forever, but I got it done.  I am really excited about how it turned out.  Now I just need to use the equipment that is in                      there.
